Terms of Service
PocketArt · Last updated 31 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the PocketArt iPhone app. The app is published by Florian Burkhardt Digital Solutions, c/o COCENTER, Koppoldstr. 1, 86551 Aichach, Germany. By downloading or using PocketArt you agree to them.
The short version. PocketArt is a game about collecting paintings. One parcel arrives each day. PocketArt+ is an auto-renewing subscription billed by Apple, which you cancel in your own App Store settings. Your collection lives on your iPhone, and deleting the app deletes it.
What PocketArt is
PocketArt delivers one wrapped painting per day. You unwrap it, hear or read a short commentary on it, and it joins a private gallery on your device. Quizzes are drawn only from paintings you have already opened.
The app is for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. It is an entertainment and general-interest product, not an academic reference. Commentary is written to be accurate and interesting, and may still simplify or omit scholarly debate.
Your collection
Your progress is stored locally on your iPhone. There is no account and nothing is uploaded, which has one consequence worth stating plainly: if you delete the app, reset your device, or move to a new phone without restoring from a backup, your collection is gone and we cannot restore it. See the Privacy Policy for what does and does not leave your device.
PocketArt+ subscription
PocketArt can be used free for a limited introductory period. After that, a PocketArt+ subscription is required to keep unwrapping new paintings. Paintings you have already unwrapped remain yours to view, listen to and be quizzed on, whether or not you subscribe.
- Prices, durations and any free trial are shown in the app before purchase and are charged in your local currency.
- Payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account on confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
- You can manage and cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- A lifetime purchase, where offered, is a one-time payment and does not renew.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms, not by us. Consumers in the EU also have statutory withdrawal rights, which are unaffected by these terms.
Artwork and commentary
The paintings reproduced in PocketArt are works in the public domain. Image sources and attributions are listed in full on the Credits page. The app's own commentary, narration, artwork, name and design are ours and may not be copied, extracted or redistributed without permission.
If you believe an image has been reproduced or attributed incorrectly, write to us and we will correct or remove it.
Acceptable use
Please do not reverse engineer the app, attempt to bypass the subscription, extract its audio or image assets for redistribution, or use it in a way that breaks the law where you are.
Availability and changes
We may update PocketArt, change or retire features, and add or remove paintings from the catalogue. We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and material changes will be signalled in the app. Continuing to use PocketArt after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Disclaimer and liability
PocketArt is provided as it is. To the extent permitted by law we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or any liability that cannot be limited under German law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for PocketArt or its content. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and where it conflicts with these terms for App Store matters, it prevails.
Governing law
German law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence.
